The Peace Vigil went ahead as planned and it was a sucessful turn out. Here are some pictures from the event on December 31st. Unfortunately in the two days following the vigil there was an assasination of a Tamil MP as well as LTTE bombs set off in Colombo. The government has also disolved the CFA and there has been a huge escalation in violence over the first 23 days of this month with daily reports of casualites on all sides. Nevertheless I belive there was a purpose of the vigil, and future vigils - this will be explained in my next post.
